Fly-in Classic Big Cat Savuti Safari Package

The Classic Savuti Safari Package takes in the almost mythical Savute area of the Chobe National Park in Botswana, where dramatic change is taking place at present. Known as a dry and semi arid place during the winter months for the past 30 years the area is now a waterlogged refuge for animals during the dry season.

The dry Savuti Channel is now flowing again after decades and the area is moving to the changes, creating one of the most fascinating scenarios where animals have to adapt to this dramatic turn around.

The area is explored on morning and afternoon game drives, on private roads and with trips to the channel and marsh, to view how the flowing water has affected the behaviour of the wildlife in the area.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Maun - Savuti

Upon arrival at Maun airport from Johannesburg you will be escorted to your light aircraft for the flight to Savuti where you will be met by your guide. It is a 40 minute drive to the bush camp through scrub savannah with the chance of seeing animals en route.

Arriving in camp there will be time for a light lunch and settling in before heading out on an afternoon drive. Savuti, in the south western part of the Chobe National Park, is well known for its predators and the guides will do their utmost to track them down.

Day 2: Savuti

The day starts early with a wake-up call and a light breakfast before heading out on a morning game drive. Early morning is the best time to see predators going about their business and the guides know the habits of the individuals in the area, ensuring a good chance of seeing predator activity.

Returning to the bush camp for brunch and a siesta will allow time to view animals coming down to drink at the waterhole in front of camp. Afternoon tea will be served before the sunset game drive to find the animals that have eluded you. Bush sunsets are spectacular and sipping on a cold drink in quiet contemplation as the sun goes down, is a highlight of any safari.

Day 3: Savuti - Maun - Johannesburg

This is the final day of your 3 day Classic Savute Safari and there will be time for an early morning drive and brunch before you say your goodbyes. You will be transferred to the Savuti airstrip to catch your connecting flight to Maun and the onward flight to Johannesburg after a wonderful safari experience.
