Every year in the wet season at Camp Kalahari, you can experience the last great Zebra and Wildebeest migration still occurring in Southern Africa. Your Botswana camping safari at this time of the year will coincide with a transformation in the Makgadikgadi Pans. At the onset of the rains, water fills the pan and new life blooms.
This annual phenomenon attracts huge numbers of Flamingos to the water to feed, while other wildlife arrives to graze on the lush grasses. Of course, the predators follow this with great interest and make the most of this opportunity. This dramatic season unfolds from the beginning of November through to mid April.
At any other time of year the stark beauty of the Makgadikgadi Pans and its fascinating ecosystem becomes the main attraction during the dry season. This is the time for exciting quad biking adventures and fascinating walks with Bushmen. The endless moon-like landscapes seem to be devoid of life, but your Bushman guide will soon show you just how his people have successfully survived here.
On excursions you're bound to see the rare Brown Hyena, and on desert walks enjoy the company of wild but habituated Meerkats. Back at Camp Kalahari, you can relax in your traditional Meru tent or investigate the thatched library. You can socialise in comfort and enjoy good company in the lounge and dining area. Original decor and food enhance your experience in this spectacular environment.
Camp Kalahari is suitable for families and children of all ages are welcome. Children under the age of 12 will be accommodated on a Bed Roll in their parents room. In the case of more than two children under the age of 12 there will be a split of one parent per child per tent. Children under the age of 12 are allowed to participate in quad bike activities sharing with an adult while game drives will be at guide/lodge managers' discretion.
