Location of Camp Kalahari, Makgadikgadi Pans

Camp Kalahari sits amongst the acacias and mokolwane palms of Brown Hyaena Island, on the edge of Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and adjacent to the Makgadikgadi-Nxai Pans National Park.

The Makgadikgadi Pan is a Salt Pan situated in the middle of the dry Savanna of North-Eastern Botswana. It is one of the largest salt flats in the world.

The pan is all that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi, which once covered an area larger than Switzerland, but dried up several thousand years ago.

The closest town to Camp Kalahari in Botswana is the Safari town of Maun. Travellers will be delighted to know that there are direct flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg.
