Stay in a beautiful tented bush camp which is situated on a palm-fringed island, overlooking Chief's Island. Explore the surrounding areas which abound with game such as Elephant, Buffalo and Zebra, as well as predators such as Lion and Hyena.
You can enjoy mokoro excursions (in traditional dug-out canoes) through the papyrus fringed, winding channels of the Okavango Delta stopping along the way for bush walks on the islands. These walks allow you to see smaller animals such as Mongooses and birds as well as learn about the ecology of the region.
If you are feeling adventurous, you might also enjoy spending a night away from camp - sleeping out under the stars in the heart of the Delta. Game viewing cruises in a motorboat allow you to see more of the Delta including large herds of Lechwe, Buffalo and Tsessebe. The varied habitats attract many different species of birds and the birding is excellent.
On the first morning of your Botswana safari, you will take a scheduled flight from Johannesburg to Maun. There you will catch a light aircraft that will take you on a scenic flight into the Okavango Delta.
Once you have landed you will be transferred to your bush camp, where you can enjoy a refreshing lunch and spend some time settling in. In the afternoon you will enjoy a game viewing cruise on the lagoons and channels of the Delta. You'll enjoy refreshing sundowners followed by a delicious dinner out under the African stars.
Today you can enjoy exploring the surrounding area while being poled along in a traditional boat called a makoro. These trips can last all day, and involve a picnic lunch on one of the islands. You will also do guided bush walks, during which you will learn to read animal tracks and deduce what went on during the night.
These walks are led by your expert guide and under their guidance you may even approach quite close to animals such as Zebra and Buffalo. Your guide will point out different animals and tell you about their habits.
Makoro excursions are a great way to explore the Delta. As you move silently through the waterways, you can easily approach wildlife such as Elephant feeding on a palm fringed island. Slip past Hippo and Crocodile and watch Lechwe grazing on the floodplains. You will also enjoy exciting game viewing trips in motorised boats that will take you into the heart of the Okavango.
This is the final day of your Classic Moremi Crossing Safari. Enjoy your last early morning game viewing activity and breakfast in the magnificent Okavango Delta.
You will be transferred to the airstrip where you will catch your return flight back to Maun and the onward connection back to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport.
This 3 day Classic Fly-in Moremi Crossing package includes scheduled flights ex/to Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport. The rate is calculated per person sharing a room. This Botswana package can also be combined with a stay at other bush camps and lodges in the Okavango Delta and the Chobe National Park.
