Safari Activities at San Camp

San Camp offers 4x4 quad biking, horseriding safaris, Bushmen guided bush walks and game drives to encounter the Makgadikgadi Pans adapted wildlife.

Guests partake in game drives with the emphasis on learning the adaptations of unique desert species such as Brown Hyaena, Suricate and Springbuck. In the wet season, guests will be able to see the last Zebra and Wildebeest migration to survive in Southern Africa.

Partake in expeditions onto the Salt Pans on 4x4 quad bikes to experience the vast emptiness of this incredible, mysterious and hitherto unexplored area. Visit the Seven Sisters or Chapman's Baobab, the largest tree in Africa, and the beacon and campsite of the early explorers such as Livingstone and Selous.

Walks with Bushman (San people) trackers who will explain the fascinating links between their people and the wilderness environment. The guests will now concentrate on ground level, reading the tracks and signs of the nocturnal desert species, digging up scorpions and setting traps. A very special insight into the fibre and texture of the area, after days spent scanning the distant horizons of the Makgadikgadi.
Spend a morning with a semi-habituated family group of Meerkat (Suricate), getting up close and personal with these fascinating creatures. Visit a traditional cattle post where you will be able to learn about the local culture and traditional ways of life. Game regularly sited is Hyaena, Kudu, Impala, Steenbuck, ground Squirrel, Springhares, Jackal and various desert birds.
