Position of Kaza Safari Lodge, Caprivi Strip

Kaza Safari Lodge is located on Impalila Island where four countries meet: Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

Kaza Safari Lodge is situated on Impalila Island in the Caprivi Strip of Namibia, at the furthest north-eastern end. Kaza Safari Lodge is 69km (43 miles) from Victoria Falls at the Zimbabwe / Zambian border, a half an hour boat ride from Kasane (in Botswana) or a short charter flight onto the island.

Due to its position, the lodge is easily accessed from Botswana and a speedboat will collect you at Kasane - the entry town to Botswana's Chobe National Park - and take you on a scenic half hour boat ride along the Chobe River and into the Zambezi River. Kaza Safari Lodge is secretly hidden at the top of a small rapid on an island large enough to contain a number of small villages.

This boat trip is a wonderful introduction to the beauty and lushness of the area, and you will pass flocks of unusual open-billed Storks, several Crocodiles and a few jumping fish before you reach the Kaza Safari Lodge.

Access by Road

  • Guests can drive from Johannesburg through Botswana to Kasane on a tarred road for collection by boat from Kasane Immigration (Chobe river). Secure parking is available.
  • Visitors driving through Botswana must also provide proof of third party insurance from within the Southern African Customs Union or third party insurance can be purchased at the Botswana border control. All foreign vehicles are subject to a road safety levy upon entry.
