Fly-in Classic Okavango, Houseboat and Moremi Wildlife Safari

This Houseboat Adventure Package combines new experiences in a relatively unknown area of Botswana,with a traditional wildlife safari in 2 very different areas of the Okavango water system - the Okavango Panhandle and Moremi Game Reserve.

Houseboats are a unique way of experiencing a Botswana Safari and the Panhandle has a great deal to offer the visitor. Besides some of the best fishing, it is also known as the top birding spot in Botswana. The legendary Tsodilo Hills are also within easy reach of the Panhandle.

Moremi Game Reserve provides a traditional safari experience,with game drives and boat cruises allowing for an up close and personal look at the wonder and beauty of what is considered to be one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa.

Days 1: Johannesburg - Maun - Okavango Panhandle

Upon arrival in Maun on a flight from Johannesburg, you will be met and transferred in an air-conditioned minibus through rural Botswana to the northern part of the Okavango Panhandle where you will board a houseboat for a 2 night stay. The road transfer can take 4 hours. This safari with a difference shares one of the least known areas in Botswana and you will be able to relax and watch Africa pass you by.

Day 2: Okavango Panhandle

You will probably wake with the dawn chorus and witness the sunrise on the river before a day of fishing and boating in the channels, birding or simply relaxing under the wide sky of Africa. Optional tours to the spiritual home of the San people, Tsodilo Hills are also offered and experienced guides will ensure that the experience is greatly enhanced as they share their knowledge of the area with you.

The houseboat has rooms with large sliding door windows and en-suite facilities to ensure maximum privacy. Every room has good views which can be experienced from bed. An upper deck allows for relaxation whilst looking out for some of the many bird species that occur in the area. Delicious meals are prepared in the kitchen and there is no better way of falling asleep at night than to the sounds of the Okavango chorus.

Day 3: Okavango Panhandle - Maun - Xakanaxa, Moremi Game Reserve

An early morning ensures that you set off with the sunrise on the road trip back to Maun. From Maun you will catch a light aircraft flight into the Xakanaxa area of the Moremi Game Reserve where you will spend the next 2 nights of your African safari. The Moremi Game Reserve is considered to be one the most beautiful parks in Africa and Xakanaxa is the post card of the Moremi.

Day 4: Xakanaxa, Moremi Game Reserve

An early wake-up call signals a day of wonder as Xakanaxa provides an incredible wildlife safari experience. Famous for its herds of Elephant and Buffalo, numerous antelope species, Giraffe, Hippo and a high concentration of predators, Xakanaxa is known as one of Botswana's top areas for game viewing.

Activities during your stay at Xakanaxa include game drives and excursions on power boats to explore the channels of the Okavango Delta. Knowledgeable guides will share their passion for the bush with you to further enhance this amazing wildlife safari experience and falling asleep to the sounds of the African night is truly priceless.

Day 5: Xakanaxa, Moremi Game Reserve - Maun - Johannesburg

This is the final day of your Hills and Delta Safari Package, so make the most of it! There will be time for a last morning activity before breakfast. A transfer will be provided to the airstrip for the flight to Maun from where you will catch the onward connection to Johannesburg, after a truly special Botswana safari.
