Classic Fly-in Okavango Getaway Experience

Your 5 day safari experience will start off in the south western areas of the Okavango Delta. The bush camp is set on a palm island and is surrounded by picturesque floodplains. The region has belts of acacia trees and so Giraffe are commonly seen. There are large herds of plains game such as Zebra, Impala and Wildebeest as well as many predators such as Lion and Hyena.

On this leg of your Botswana safari you can enjoy traditional makoro excursions to explore the surrounding channels and picturesque palm islands. For the second half of your Botswana getaway vacation, you will move to another game lodge which will allow you to experience another side of the Okavango.

You will stay in a stunning eco-friendly lodge which has a wonderful view towards Chief's Island. They offer exciting game drives and personalised bush walks. These can be taken separately or as part of a makoro excursion.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Maun - Okavango Delta

Your Botswana safari starts off with a short flight from Maun to the south-western area of the Delta where you will be spending the next 2 nights on your Botswana safari. The seasonal floodplains are areas of exceptional beauty, which are home to large herds of Lechwe and Impala.

Once you have been welcomed and settled into camp, you will head out on an afternoon safari activity, such as an exciting game drive during which you might see Lion, Wildebeest and Lechwe, among other animals. Or, you might set out to explore the maze-like channels of the Okavango while in a traditional dug-out canoe called a makoro.

You'll return to camp to enjoy a tasty bush inspired dinner. Meals are often served out on the deck under the brilliant night sky. Drift off to sleep in your comfortable bed while listening to the sounds of the African night.

Day 2: Okavango

You'll receive an early morning wakeup call followed by a cuppa and a snack before the morning game viewing activity. You may set off on a thrilling guided walk during which you will learn about the fascinating ecology of the region. Learn how to track animals and how to read the bush. Discover how to read the signs of what went on the night before. Alternately, you may head out on another game drive, which will give you a greater chance of seeing animals such as Lion and Elephant.

You'll return to camp for a refreshing and tasty brunch, before enjoying some quiet time where you can relax in camp and take a dip in the pool, or try your hand at a spot of fishing. Later in the afternoon, you'll enjoy a high tea before heading out on an afternoon makoro trip or a sunset game drive. You should look out for nocturnal animals such as Pel's Fishing Owls and Serval on your evening game drive. You'll stop off in a scenic spot to enjoy sundowners before returning to camp and a hearty dinner.

Day 3: Okavango Delta - light aircraft flight

After your morning game viewing activity and delicious breakfast you will catch a light aircraft for a short flight to another area of the Okavango Delta, where you will spend the next 2 nights at a beautiful eco-friendly lodge. You will enjoy a light lunch followed by some time to relax before the afternoon safari activity. Discover the beauty of the region while on a scenic sunset boat cruise or an exciting game drive. Highlights of this area of the Okavango include seeing Wild Dogs or herds of Elephants.

Day 4: Okavango Delta

Set-off on another morning game viewing activity - a game drive or bush walk, that will give you the opportunity to see animals such as Tsessebe, Wildebeest, Lechwe and Elephants. After brunch and some relaxation time, you will head off on a game viewing cruise which culminates with refreshing cocktails and watching the spectacular sunset.

Day 5: Okavango Delta - Maun - Johannesburg

Enjoy one last sunrise of the Okavango Delta floodplains and morning game drive before catching a light aircraft transfer back to Maun where you will connect with your flight for your onward journey.
