Jao Reserve is in the north-western area of the Okovango Delta in Botswana. The Moremi Game Reserve forms the eastern boundary. It is 60 000ha in size with a maximum guest occupancy of 48 people. The Jao Concession consists of glittering lagoons, deep-blue channels, floodplains and palm islands.
This wildlife high-density wetland area are home to the sitatunga and red lechwe antelopes as well as lion, leopard, wildebeest, elephant, zebra and many more.The outstanding birdlife of which the fish-eagle, endangered wattled crane, saddle billed storks, egrets and the African skimmer are part of can also be found in the Jao Reserve.
There is a number of small camps on the reserve ranging from tree-top houses to luxury chalets. The camps, Jao, Kwetsani, Jacana and Tuba Tree are only accessible by fly-in, via a short flight from either Maun or Kasane and transfers. Various activities include night drives, walks, game drives, boating and exciting mokoro trips (dug-out canoe).
