Chief’s Island is one of the largest islands in the Okovango Delta in Botswana. It is situated in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Delta.
Chiefs Island offers tented camps for accommodation. The camps are in secluded areas surrounded by and abundance of wildlife ensuring plenty of opportunities for game-viewing. You will find large herds of elephant, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, lion and hippo plus many more species of wildlife all over the whole of Chiefs Island. You may also see the elusive white rhino seen nowhere else in Botswana.
You can take part in mokoro rides (dug-out canoes made by the local people) through the miraculous waterways of the Okavango Delta and bush walks where you feel at one with nature. Some of the Botswana safari lodges on Chief’s Island offer twice daily game drives in 4x4’s. This is also a prime spot for bird lovers who can look out for the beautiful malachite kingfishers.
